Marker is a writing tool for people who believe in writing.

It's your partner and editor as you take your thoughts on their torturously joyful journey into words.

Writing is a process of discovery: finding a path and seeing where it leads. Every word is a choice and every choice matters. Other creative fields have tools to support their craft, while writers are left with stagnant word "processors" or, newly, "efficiency" tools that hijack thinking and shortcut nuance.

We believe there's a better path.

Marker puts the writer back at the center. It won't do the hard part for you. Instead it supports your writing process, from first note to final draft.

For writers who want better questions.

What is Marker?

Marker is a writing space built for thinking. It's focused, flexible, and made for ideas to take shape. We think of it as a love letter to anyone who works with words. If you care about how ideas come together — not just how they look — you're in the right place.

How is Marker different from other writing tools?

Most writing tools optimize for output. Marker is designed for the process — the rough drafts, the half-formed thoughts, the work that happens before something is ready to share. It's designed with features that help you transform your thoughts into words (without writing for you).

When will Marker be available?

We're building Marker thoughtfully and releasing access in waves. If you'd like to give it a try, sign up for the waitlist. Or if you have a friend or colleague using Marker, ask nicely and they can invite you (we suggest flowers).

Is Marker free?

While Marker is free in this alpha period, we eventually plan to ask people to subscribe. And we want to make it so wonderfully helpful that you're more-than-happy to support us.

Your writing is yours

Our core value is 'writers first,' and that means all your writing is yours (not ours), we don't allow it to be used to train third-party models (like Gemini or Claude or ChatGPT), and you can download your documents anytime you want. If you want to know more, you can check out our full terms of service and privacy notice.
